Job Summary:
The CU Department of Anesthesiology iC42 Clinical Research and Development is seeking an Operations and Finance Manager to join and support its clinical, contract research, and research operations. The Operations and Finance Manager is a full-time position which provides critical financial and business support for the iC42 Clinical Research & Development Director, Academic Administrative Director, faculty, and research staff. This position is responsible for direction, design and implementation of business operations and will collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operation infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of iC42 Clinical Research and Development. Furthermore, the position provides financial, human resources, and business management and direction for the iC42 Clinical Research and Development's Laboratory and Medical Director and will administratively manage all areas of clinical laboratory services, industry collaborations, and research activities for iC42 Clinical Research and Development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage iC42's finances, contracts, and budgets, including:
- Trend analysis; cost study reviews; contract preparation, negotiation, and review; post-award contract management; statement review and reconciliation; account updates; submission of journal entries; approval of fiscal transactions.
- Oversee annual Medicaid audit preparation; management of Medicaid and medical insurance billing processes, acts as HRSA point of contact; annual HRSA report preparation.
- Oversee and maintain an organized system of iC42 Clinical Research and Development quotes, contracts, agreements, etc. to include upcoming, pending, and expiring contracts and confidentiality agreements.
- Supervise, develop, and provide guidance to iC42 Clinical Research and Development administrative team.
- Collaborate facilities staff to complete and coordinate building maintenance and repairs, equipment PMs, calibrations, validations, verifications, repairs, and service agreements.
- Analyze systems to improve facilities processes in the areas of safety and financial risk associated with equipment failure.
- Oversee Webspace and Capital Equipment reporting and processes.
- In conjunction with the Department's People Operation Director, analyze appropriate staffing levels, personnel concerns, and conflict resolution as well as oversee hiring, retention, and resignation/termination processes ensuring compliance with all University codes, policies, and regulations including personnel professional conduct.
Work Location:
All new employees in the Department of Anesthesiology must be on-site, full-time, five (5) days per week during their training period. An individual's training period is position and incumbent-specific.
The Operations and Finance Manager, once fully trained, is expected to be on site four (4) to five (5) days per week and as needed for in-person meetings in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution is required.
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
- Four (4) years of extensive, diverse, and progressively responsible management experience, including direct responsibility for financial, research, business administration, and/or supervisory functions.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in education, business, public administration, health care, finance, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- Ten (10) or more years of experience working in a biotech, CRO, research or clinical laboratory.
- Previous experience as COO/CFO or equivalent.
- Experience with management of multimillion-dollar auxiliary enterprises.
- Experience with or knowledge of CU accounting systems and reports, accounting practices, expenditure policies, sources of fund, TABOR rules, and/or federal funding guidelines.
- Experience with or knowledge of laboratory safety procedures including chemical waste disposal and blood borne pathogen risks.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Outstanding customer service skills.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $73,491 - $93,481.
